2020 COVID-19 Update from Business Manager

Sunday, March 22nd COVID-19 Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Please be advised of the following public service announcement:

The local governments of Kansas City, MO, Jackson County, MO, Johnson, Leavenworth, & Wyandotte Counties in KS have jointly issued a directive to “shelter at home” beginning Tuesday, March 24th.

The construction industry is exempt from the directive because we are essential workers and we have been told some projects are able to remain open for our members to work.

The recently negotiated NERDA will be in effect, but understand your safety is paramount and you will not be subject to any discipline if you are concerned about your safety. Having said that, we are continuing to negotiate with NECA to address issues that may effect our members during this pandemic.

Local 124 and the Greater Kansas City Building Trades has demanded the General Contractors provide expanded safety and sanitation conditions on their job sites. https://nabtu.org/home-page/cpwr-covid-19/

If your job site does not have the sanitary conditions please notify your steward, foreman, and business representative.

We will continue to service our members as we will operate skeleton crews at the union office and benefit office but your representatives are working remotely and can be reached via their mobile phones.

We will provide any updates as they become available.

Please be safe and take this pandemic seriously.

John Fennesy, Business Manager
