Election Day Volunteer Opportunities! Volunteers Needed!
Brothers and Sisters
Our friends in Leavenworth need our help on Election Day! Please take a little time to help with this years election.
Election Day Volunteer Opportunities.
We need the most volunteers for #1 & 2.
1) Poll Watchers – Poll watchers sit behind the poll workers and check names off a paper list as the voters check in. Good hearing is required. There will be 3 shifts for each polling location in the county, 6:45 am-11 am; 11-3 pm & 3-7:30 pm. There are 26 polling locations. The checkoff lists will be collected at different times of day, so we can contact those who haven’t voted yet. The last shift will stay until the election judge closes the polling location to get the vote totals for each candidate. We will have a form to populate so you can email or call the numbers into HQ. This helps us understand how our candidates are doing before the results are made public by the County Clerk.
2) Phone bank – Volunteers will call voters that haven’t voted. We will have a couple of different locations throughout the county to make calls including headquarters at 618 Cherokee, Leavenworth, KS.
3) Canvassers – Volunteers will go door-to-door to contact voters that haven’t voted. Most likely this will be limited to the towns, i.e., Leavenworth, Lansing, Basehor, Tonganoxie.
4) Runners – Volunteers will drive to the polling locations and pick up the paper lists (from #1 above) and take them to central locations where we will enter the data. This group will also give rides to the polls and/or pick up advance ballots that haven’t been mailed.
Please contact Sherri Grogan, Leavenworth County Chairwoman, at 913-226-6705 or firstname.lastname@example.org to let her your availability and the role that interests you. Additional information will be provided once your role is confirmed.
