Tim Bleil is a 45 year old Inside Wireman for Local 124 initiated into the union in August of 1999. In 2000, Tim was diagnosed with a rare heart condition which causes the muscle to be defective by continuing to add more cells. Much like a person lifting weights the muscle continues to get bigger. Tim has a lot of great doctors who have worked to carefully manage his condition over the years, but they always knew his health would continue to deteriorate and eventually be fatal. His condition finally became critical in December of 2017 and Tim was admitted to Vanderbilt Hospital on the 29th of December. On December 31st he got the call that he was going to receive a new heart and on January 1st, the transplant was successfully performed. This was not exactly the way he had planned to ring in the new year, but what a great gift for Tim and his family. They are very grateful for his second chance to live a long life.
Since the transplant was performed at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee the transplant team requires them to stay in Nashville until they feel comfortable with him coming home to Leavenworth, KS. As you can imagine, they have acquired a lot of medical expenses and lodging expenses by having to stay in Nashville. They are working with a Non-Profit organization called NFT. Their website is www.transplant.org. If anyone would like to donate to help this Brother and his family they could really use it. They are a proud family with a second chance at life, so any small amount would help them to get back on their feet.
Thank You Brothers and Sisters
